The only "bad" side of minimalism I've experienced is wondering why others don't want that, and the awareness I now feel of clutter overwhelm in other people's spaces. I don't ever want to come across as judgmental, it's just that I recognize easily now what I used to live with in my own home.

Goodwill is a for-profit organization, the CEO makes lots of money. The Salvation Army and Housing Works are non-profits. Just make sure the organization you are donating to are not making money off your things.

I am loving your videos, just found you. Seeing the flour bag on the counter brought tears to my eyes ( we lived in North Dakota for 5 and a half years). That flour was on my counter many times, especially when making pies (juneberry). Thanks for that sweet reminder. Looking forward to more videos.

I never had a problem doing housework but since becoming minimalist I actually enjoy it. My perspective has changed and I don’t look at it as daunting but a way to appreciate what I have by taking care of it. I saw the same A to Zen video and that statement really hit home. Everyday is a gift in itself so we should live as if everyday is a special occasion.

More time is the big one! Two of our three kids are still at home, and just being available, unrushed and not distracted has allowed me to enjoy time and good conversations with them. And as you noted, more peace of mind and being able to enjoy the moment. Getting rid of so many books I thought I wanted to read but lost interest along the way has given me greater appreciation for those I kept. I also pruned my RUclips subscriptions from about 30 to 10 and your spot was never in danger of trimming (along with that other minimalist with a distinguished dash of gray hair, JB :-). I have to be in the right frame of mind to tackle decluttering tasks. We just downsized to a smaller house. I'm feeling paralyzed by all the stuff even though I thought I had done a good job paring it all down. I can't think straight until this mess is dealt with. Does anyone want to come help?😂

I've discovered the joy of cooking. I used to dread even THINKING about what to make for dinner. 🤔 Since I've purged the pantries, refrigerators, freezers, AND kitchen stuff (pots, pans, utensils, even decor), I'm able to plan meals and cook without a fuss! 👩‍🍳 Cleaning and keeping the kitchen clean is so much easier! 💯

There’s a children’s book that I used to give out each year called “The Quiltmaker’s Gift.” It’s lovely in so many ways, but now I realize that it also highlights the joy of a minimalist lifestyle of generosity. As you give “things” away, your life is abundantly enriched by the truly good things. 💝

How refreshing to hear a woman say she enjoys taking care of the home for the benefit of her family. This was definitely NOT my role and most women don't have the option to stay home but I find the idea very comforting. Your example in living a minimal (and thoughtful) lifestyle will have a lasting effect on your children and the next generation. Bravo!

Oddly enough I feel younger! Ditto on the generosity quotient. Through the neighborhood Buy Nothing group I have been able to donate some very nice stuff that I was not using much, if at all. It felt good to lighten up and help someone else out. Also stopped coloring my hair. Cash savings very nice but the TIME spent in the salon chair…I could have studied for a PhD! Natural hair goes best with eyes and skin tone for sure. Mother Nature knows best.

Hi emptying the indoor buns constant helps us other wise people keep loading the bin to the max .then it's difficult to get the bag out of the bin .with stuff spilling out onto the floor .your house is so nice x

Putting clean clothes away. No sense in having another pile sitting around.

The problem is when they yell at you because you throw away something you don't need.

I noticed you sprayed a black coating on some of the outside walls. Is this just an option or does this need to be done to seal the blocks?

No. 4: instead of sweeping, I have a robot vacuum. I love it. I just take it to one room and push the button and close the door.

I agree with "no trendy clothes". I only wear and buy blue clothes. From light to dark blue. And blue with pattern. Everything is matching, now.

Being skilled at organizing and the game of Tetris is a blessing and a curse. Looking back, I can say I was an organized hoarder. I didn't even consider decluttering as an option until that sneaky RUclips algorithm got me with this whole genre of videos. My parents are baby boomers and their parents lived through the Great Depression and some major wars. What you had, you kept for a rainy day or much, much worse. My journey to minimalism has been nothing short of lifechanging for me and possibly future generations!

One of my favorite one-minute tasks is to "marry" like items together. For example, if there are two open jars of pickles in the fridge, just combine them into one jar so it only takes up half as much space. If we have a few open bags of snack food, like pretzels and goldfish, etc. that aren't getting eaten, I will make a snack mix in a mason jar or food storage container and leave it out on the counter. That makes it into something "new" they can see easily, and my kids are more likely to eat that than to finish what is left in the bottom of three different bags. Plus, it gets a lot of empty bags and jars out of the house. But it also works for things that are not food, like bottles of shampoo.

Some ideas are great, like pushing in your chairs, however, I'm sure I couldn't take down curtains or wash a window in 1 minute.

My thoughts on laundry once a week. I highly disagree with it. Smaller loads I feel are easier on your washer/dryer. Things get cleaner. And dry faster. And everyone that's told me they do laundry once a week. Always do it on the weekends. I want to enjoy my weekends, not do laundry
